Susan Brennan: pirate puer

May 13, 2011 by PBQ

butterfly hair
fire in both hands
the long thighs of wandering

a gold coin in each eye
winged ears
just like all my old lovers in striped pants

he flings me a sword
(god has escaped – quick!
let’s find the fucker!)

on his storm boat
rain combs our hair
silver shells tumble

we slip and plunge
seahorses save us
deliver us on the Florida coast

to suck on Apalachicola oysters
to blow Conch jazzes
renegade parrotfish swarm

hawkfish, clownfish, blue tangs, firefish
angelfish, octocoral , squid ink love letters –
I have so much stuff to show you
