Miah Arnold

Miah Arnold is from rural Utah and is the author of the novel Sweet Land of Bigamy, and a number of essays and short stories, including “You Owe Me,” an essay first published in Michigan Quarterly Review and which later appeared in Best American Essays 2012. This poem is taken from her newly finished (but unpublished) novel in poems, If This Universe is Soft and Cold. She has served as a genre editor for Lyric Poetry Review and Gulf Coast, is on the board of Defunkt and Glass Mountain, and has received awards including the Barthelme Award, the Inprint/Diana P. Hobby Award, and an established Artists Grand from the Houston Arts Alliance. She is founder of Grackle and Grackle Literary Enterprises, and has worked widely teaching creative writing in academic and community settings. Miah lives in Houston with her husband, two children, and a menagerie of pets.
