Lisa Andrews

Lisa Andrews, born in NYC, grew up in Michigan and moved back to New York to study acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. A graduate of Hunter College, she received an M.A. in English Literature and an M.F.A. in Poetry from NYU, where she taught in the Expository Writing Program, and took part in the writing programs at Goldwater Hospital and at Bayview Correctional Facility. She has studied with Sharon Olds, Galway Kinnell, Marie Howe and Jean Valentine. Chosen by Dael Orlandersmith as a recipient of the Writer’s Voice New Voice Poetry Award, Lisa has had residencies at Blue Mountain Center, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Vermont Studio Center. Her poems have appeared in Gargoyle, Mudfish and Zone 3. Her chapbook Dear Liz will be published this spring by Indolent Enterprises. She lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband, artist Tony Geiger.
