Kyla Sterling earned her MFA in poetry at UNC-Greensboro. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Adroit Journal, Parcel, Radar Poetry, Blackbird, Barrow Street Journal, and Notre Dame Review, among others. She was the recipient American Academy of Poets’ 2011 Noel Callow Poetry Award and The Greensboro Review’s Amon Liner Poetry Award. Her first chapbook, Warnings & Fables, is forthcoming with dancing girl press. She currently lives in Athens, Georgia, with her husband and their one-eyed cat.

I read aloud everything I could find that you had written. I read to my cats. They seemed to understand every word. I felt wonderful visiting strangely familiar worlds. I’m inspired and in love with language again.
