Kate Light’s three volumes of poetry are Gravity’s Dream, (Donald Justice Award), Open Slowly, and The Laws of Falling Bodies (Nicholas Roerich Prize). She is also the author of two works for narrator and musicians, Einstein’s Mozart and Oceanophony, (performed for thousands of children and adults across the country, often with Kate as narrator); the libretti of two one-act operas, The Life and Love of Joe Coogan (from an episode of the “The Dick Van Dyke Show”) and Once Upon the Wind, based on a Russian folktale; and lyrics of songs for film, theater, and cabaret. She has been Visiting Professor at Cornell University and Musashino Art University in Tokyo, has offered online courses at The Poetry School in London, and currently teaches in the English Department at Hunter College in New York. She is also a professional violinist.
