Karl Meade’s work has been longlisted for five CBC Literary Prizes, shortlisted for Arc Poetry Magazine’s Poem of the Year, and The Malahat Review’s Open Season Creative Nonfiction Award. He has been published in dozens of magazines, including Literary Review of Canada, Tusculum Review, Grain Magazine, Chronogram, Umbrella Factory Magazine, Contemporary Verse 2, Event Magazine, The Fiddlehead, Open Letter, Under the Sun, and Dandelion. His novel, Odd Jobs, was a finalist for the Foreword Reviews Book of the Year for Humor, and an iTunes Top 20 Arts and Literature podcast.
Karl lives part-time on Salt Spring Island, Canada, where he co-organizes the Open-Mic/Feature Poet monthly reading series, hosting such writers as Poet Laureate Fred Wah, Steven Price, and Karen Connelly. When he is not on Salt Spring Island, Karl lives with his partner in Bronxville, New York.
