Erin Dorney: Song In Young Birds

June 12, 2014 by PBQ

They said try new things and I said
okay, I’ll try this,
the size of his waist fits
and his hands press into my back,
and I can’t think about anyone else.
I typed and erased and typed
and erased the shadow
of a house on a house.
In between fittings I
took early lunches, left
to lie in bed writing and at some point
I slept for one whole month.
This is a list of things
I didn’t intend to happen but happened,
a brief and shining call that was important to you once.
