Carolyn Busa kicked off the March 28 Slam the way we like it: with talk of slabs, boob (yes, just one), and those ever-elusive Olive Garden fortune cookies. Busa had us tearing up in the best way as she delivered a refreshingly original set that was relatable to all in attendance. Who knew being treated […]
And now, for something completely different: The night will begin with a short set from Carolyn Busa! Yes, you read that right! Then our beloved host, Andrew Keller, will take the stage once again and deliver another spectacular Slam. This is sure to be a night you don’t want to miss!
Overheard at AWP #483: “Who? Don DeLillo? Who’s Don DeLillo?”
Yes, we are as happily surprised to see him at AWP as you were. Reciprocal fandom is nice. This is Chris, smiling, just so you know…
Last night, Painted Bride Quarterly celebrated St. Patrick’s Day early with a poetry reading at Perch Pub, another installation in our reader-curated series. The room was packed, but there was plenty of food, drink and fun to go around.
As an AWP virgin, my first time at the conference was practically pain-free. Another Painted Bride intern and I picked up the 6th Annual Print of Painted Bride Quarterly straight from the printing center, packed up the car, and hit the road.
Jill Birdsall’s short story “Oker’s Pond,” part of her most recent collection, appears in Painted Bride Quarterly Print 6 as a part of Issue 85: Displacement, (which will be back-up online again shortly). We are pleased to announce that another story from the same collection has just been awarded first prize in the Gertrude Stein Award
Here’s the trouble with Associated Writing Program’s Annual Conference: It ends.
It ends, and then we are left to process everything we learned, remember every moment that blew us away, hang on to all of those words.
Come see Painted Bride Quarterly at Booth 1209 during the AWP Conference! Our staff will be available for photographs and discussions! Gain bragging rights and be the first to buy our hot-off-the-printers Painted Bride Quarterly Print Annual 6. We will also be selling our previous issues, magnets, stickers, and enough swag to make your literary friends jealous!
