Mara Jebsen: Island

October 25, 2012 by PBQ

Love is a country I lived in once.
You can only get there by boat.
Over here, things are pretty good.
The grass grows straight & the sky makes sense.
I have a lot of little tasks.         Sometimes  when I sing,
I sound like someone else.        Birds
interest me. I study them. The whole of my mind
attends to a feather.     & sometimes I’m struck
by the shape of a cup of water that I hold
in my hand       very steadily. I don’t
drop things any more. I never trip.
There seems to be a lot of time,
like the water      all around.
