Lynn Fanok: Nowosiόłki

August 24, 2017 by PBQ 5 Comments

Is this the place
where you milked
cows? Fed horses?

Is this the place (you told me,
but shouldn’t have),
where your mutt Hammer
killed your chickens,
so you hung him
from a tree
then whimpered
like a dog?

Is this the place
where they
came and took
your chickens, took
your goats, took
your cows,

and then
came and took you?

Love the lines \”then whimpered / like a dog?\”, suggesting how close a human and pet can be, as though they are of the same species.

Love the lines \”then whimpered / like a dog?\”, suggesting the kind ofrelationship a human and pet can have, almost as though they are of the same species.
