Lipman to make July Slam a Literary Scorcher

July 15, 2013 by PBQ

July 2013 Slam Flyer

Philly shows no signs of cooling off this summer, especially since July 25 is our monthly Slam, Bam, Thank You Ma’am at the Pen & Pencil Club. Join us at 7:30pm for a smokin’ hot reading by Paulie Lipman, followed by our crazy-creative, interactive writing extravaganza, hosted by Steve Volk. As always, we promise to bring the pens and paper, but ask the audience to bring the heat, especially this month, as there will be several of PBQ’s New York staff in attendance!

Paulie Lipman slid screaming into this reality on September 24th, 1975 and hasn’t shut up since.

After an, let’s say, auspicious academic career, his resume has included positions such as: Bartender, Bouncer, Traveling Ren Faire Employee, Contributor and Touring Member of industrial group Velvet Acid Christ, Clerk at 9 different records stores, and Poet Laureate for a now defunct gaming company.

After discovering Poetry Slam and all that entailed, he has:

  • Been a part of 9 Denver Mercury Slam Teams (including ’04 and ’06 finalists)
  • Released 2 chap books
  • Released several EP albums and 2 full length albums of poetry w/music
  • Toured the U.S. and Canada extensively performing poetry

We look forward to seeing you there!
