There’s no better way to celebrate a new month than with Painted Bride Quarterly readings! PBQ’s Reading series kicks off on March 9, upstairs at the Black Sheep Pub (247 S. 17th St.) at 7 p.m. with four poets: Anne-Adele Wight, Marion Bell, Jason Mitchell and Alexa Smith! Join us for a great reading as well as no cover charge and food and drink specials.
Anne-Adele Wight is the author of “Sidestep Catapult” and “Opera House Arterial,” both from BlazeVOX Books. Her work has appeared in American Writing, Philadelphia Poets, Tabula Rasa, Shrike, Mad Poets Review, Fairies in America, Luna Luna, Bedfellows 3, and elsewhere. Her poem “Nothing but Villas in Tuscany” was selected as an Editor’s Choice in the Sandy Crimmins Poetry Competition. She curates the monthly Jubilant Thicket performance series and lives in Philadelphia with her husband and two cats.
Marion Bell is a poet who lives in Philadelphia. She has written a chapbook called “The Abjector” and a manuscript titled “You People” (both of which she can email you as pdfs). You can find some of her poems in Jupiter 88, Elective Affinities, Edwin Johns, Maestra Vida and Bedfellows.
Jason Mitchell lives in Philadelphia where he coordinates and hosts a reading series called “Frank O’Hara’s Last Lover in the Rose Room” at Snockey’s Oyster House. Poems of his can be found in Hi Zero, Court Green, and Jupiter 88, as well as in a few other places.
